A PHOTOGRAPHER is holding an exhibition documenting the final months of the Stow.

'Going to the Dogs' documents the last three months of Walthamstow Stadium through photography and oral history, focusing on the people who worked at the track and contributed to its history.

Documentary photographer and Walthamstow resident Katherine Green, is showing the work in full for the first time at Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow and has invited former workers to attend.

She said: "It was such an abrupt and sad end to the track that one year on I am hoping it will celebrate what all those people who worked there for years gave to the community.

"I am also hoping it will be a bit of reunion for those who worked there. It is sad because a lot of them still aren't working because it closed at the start of the economic downturn."

Ms Green was awarded three grants towards the costs of the exhibition from Arts Council England, Apex Arts and an O2 It’s Your Community.

The Big Screen in Walthamstow town square will be screening a documentary about the track, once a week to coincide with the exhibition.

'Just Another Day', filmed in 1986, will be shown every Friday from 12.30pm to 1pm, from this Friday (September 25) until October 2.

Going to the Dogs is at Walthamstow’s Vestry House Museum, in Vestry Road, Walthamstow, from Saturday, September 26 to November 27. The book to accompany the exhibition will also be on sale.
