RESIDENTS of Wanstead will have the chance to learn about the history of their local area with two guided walks this month.
Historian John Goodman will be leading curious locals around some of the area's most intriguing landmarks.
The Wanstead Society has organised the walks with charity Living Streets in an effort to encourage residents to get around more on foot.
Mr Goodman said: "The idea behind these walks is to persuade people that Wanstead and its history can be enjoyed so much more without a car.
“The first walk will take in Christchurch Green, the Eagle pond and the High Street and the second will explore Wanstead Park and the influence of the Wanstead House estate on the landscape.”
The walks will take place on Wednesday September 23 and Tuesday September 29 at 11am, departing from the display board outside Somerfield on the High Street.
For information about the walks, contact Jack Skillen on 020 7377 4912 or jack.skillen@livingstreets.org.uk.
