A SEVERELY disabled two-year-old has discovered the joys of the outdoors after a charity helped his family buy a special garden swing.

Jimmy Davis, who was born 12 weeks premature has multiple disabilities, including Bulber Palsy - leaving him unable to walk or sit up by himself.

He also suffers from epilepsy, as well as being blind and deaf.

However despite his disadvantages his parents, Sarah and Colin, describe Jimmy as a contented little boy, who has just learnt to smile in the last six months.

Because of the difficulty and danger of letting Jimmy play outside with his older brothers, George, 4 and Alfie,3, Jimmy spent most of his time confined in the house.

But now with help from charity REACT (Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with potentially Terminal illness) it's a different story.

REACT brought the Davis family a much-needed fridge freezer to help keep Jimmy’s many medicines at the correct temperature.

But the object which has really changed life for Jimmy is the specially adapted swing, which means he can now take part in garden fun with the rest of the family.

Jimmy's mum Sarah Davis, 31, said: "He can't sit up by himself so there's so many limitations on what he can experience. Now if we have a garden party or friends round he can be part of it too.

"I can't tell you the difference the swing has made to Jimmy, he sits there all day long and loves it.

"He doesn't communicate, so that smile is priceless to us.

She added: "I'm so grateful to REACT, it's not until you're in a situation like ours that you realise how hard these groups work and the brilliant work they do. They've certainly changed Jimmy's life."
