THE team of officers responsible for policing railway stations and trains in the borough has won a national award.
The British Transport Police (BTP) London north team, which polices the Liverpool Street to Chingford and Barking to Gospel Oak railway lines,won team of the year at the National Rail Awards 2009.
The team won the award for bringing overall crime down by 14 per cent (according to police figures) and cutting robberies by half while making efficiency savings of half a million pounds.
John Humphreys, veteran journalist and presenter of the BBC's Today programme, presented the award at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in central London.
