MORE than a hundred people - including police and faith leaders - are due to gather in Wanstead tomorrow morning (Wednesday) for a special 'peace breakfast.'

The get together, at the United Reformed Church in Nightingale Lane, is part of Peace Week - a series of community events being held across the borough aimed at 'reducing crime and the fear of crime.'

A police spokeswoman said the breakfast - which will begin at 10am - is: "an opportunity to talk about community cohesion and community safety issues in Redbridge.

"This is an informal gathering and by invitation only.

"The Mayor will be attending and giving talks on peace. Wanstead High School and Our Lady of Lourdes School choir will also be in attendance and will be performing on the stage."

A Peace Mural will be unveiled as part of the scheme at Loxford Park, Ilford at 4.45pm on Friday, with a five-a-side football tournament also due to be held at Powerleague, in Forest Road, Hainault on Saturday afternoon.

A street cricket tournament is also planned for Sunday at Loxford Park, in Ilford at 3.00pm.
