COUNCIL leader Chris Robbins is urging residents to ask for more police for the borough in a Met survey.
Cllr Robbins is leading a cross-party campaign for more police officers in Waltham Forest, which has 200 less officers than nearby boroughs Newham and Hackney despite similar crime profiles.
The council is asking for an extra 120 officers.
Cllr Robbins is now urging residents to “stand up for Waltham Forest” by filling in the Met's annual residents' questionnaire.
Cllr Robbins said: “It's clear we have a disproportionate amount of serious crime and too few officers compared with other parts of London.
“This survey is an important chance for residents to tell the Mayor of London and Metropolitan Police Authority not to short change Waltham Forest any longer.”
The questionnaire can be accessed by logging on to www.mpa.gov.uk/publications/policingplans/ or ring 020 7202 0063 for a paper copy.
There is a separate survey of young people 11 to 18 years, visit www.met.police.uk/youngpeople
