VISITORS to the Royal Gunpowder Mills had the chance to experience two millennia of history in a day, from the Roman era to the Second World War.
Re-enactment groups from across a variety of time periods joined together at the venue, in Beaulieu Drive, Waltham Abbey, to put on a vintage performance for hundreds of spectators.
Visitors also had the chance to dress up in period costume, try their hand at archery and experience what it was like to live on war time rations.
Development and fundraising manager Cathy Morton Lloyd said “The children thought the hobby horse chariot races were great and both boys and girls tried their hand at the archery. Even the adults were surprised at the skill needed by archers in medieval times.”
The Mills' summer activities come to an end this weekend with a show focussing upon the Second World War.
