MORE than 150 people dressed in military clothing invaded the garden of an electric company boss as part of a fund-raising day for ill children.

Airmen, landgirls and even a few German soldiers all came down to the event in Waltham Abbey to raise money for Woodford Green based charity The Dream Factory.

The day was made possible by South Eastern Electrics chair Neil Davey, who lent the charity the use of his grand garden for the event.

Dream Factory head Avril Mills said: "It was a fantastic day and we raised over £1,500 from raffles and donations, which was brilliant.

"The idea for the military theme came from the recent anniversary of the start of World War Two, and everyone enjoyed the event very much. We also had a 1940s singer who did some Vera Lynn numbers.

"We're very grateful to Mr Davey - he also lets us use some of his offices free of charge which is a great help."

It comes as the Dream Factory recently celebrated the awarding of its 30th dream to a severely ill six-year-old boy in the Manchester region.

The charity helped provide him with a 'portable sensory bedroom' made up of special lights and music.
