A WEEK-LONG celebration of all things Woodford Green is about to get underway with the 100 events of the Woodford Festival.
The festivities will build on the success of last year and will run at venues across Woodford Green and South Woodford from Saturday, October 3, to Sunday, October 11.
A key part of this year’s festival will be the Arts Trail, which sees local artists open up their homes and studios to the public, allowing them to gain a fascinating insight into their work.
Among other attractions will be Strictly Ballroom at the Woodford Wells Sports Club on October 3, featuring ballroom dancing and a series of beer festivals at The George pub in South Woodford.
Nearby Waitrose will also be holding food tasting events, and a vintage 1920s Rolls Royce, first bought by the then owner of the Copped Hall Estate in Epping, will make a number of appearances around the area.
The programme is also packed with film screenings, concerts, recitals and book signings, and even a pet blessing service at Holy Trinity Church in South Woodford on Sunday 4.
Anny Wortley-Millek, who organises the festival with husband Ron, said: “We’re working really hard at marketing and organising at the moment, putting the last bits into place.
“We have over 95 events at 38 different locations.”
