A LIBRARY has tried to draw in more teenage readers by giving them their own specially designed study area.
A whole section of South Woodford Library has been redeveloped to cater soley for youngsters, and will include four computers for free internet use and 2,000 new books.
Critics argue that money used to create the new zone - which was designed with the help of students at Woodbridge High School - would have been better spent on buying new books for the borough's other libraries.
But those who support the scheme, like library user Mary Obunoka, believe it could play an important role in getting more teenagers to use the facility in future.
She said: "They've got to at least try to get more teenagers to use libraries, and if this idea works then great.
"If this is what young people have said they want then it is surely a good thing."
The library is also planning to attract more youngsters by holding a series of events on Friday evenings for 11 to 18 year-olds - the first of which will be a Harry Potter-themed quiz night on October 2 at 5.30pm.
