ESSEX firefighters had a busy day on Saturday (September 26) when 500 tonnes of straw caught fire in a North Weald field.
Two fire crews rushed to the scene, close to the A414, at around 11.30am, and spent more than two hours attempting to stop the inferno spreading further.
After controlling the blaze, firefighters kept watch at the site as the fire burnt itself out.
