A VARIETY of sporting displays were held for children to learn about clubs and activities in their area.
The open day was held at Rush Croft Sports College in Rushcroft Road, Chingford, on Saturday.
The council's extended services department organised the day for Chingford and Highams Park families, to pass on information to parents or prospective parents and for the children to try some of the activities.
The schools involved in demostrating activities were Rush Croft Sports College, Selwyn Primary School in Highams Park, Chingford Hall School and Children's Centre and Brookfield House School in Woodford Green.
Carol Frederick, extended services area manager for the north of the borough, said: "The day was very successful four schools worked together to enable children, young people and their families the opportunity try out a wide range of different activities and they now know where to access them.
"We hope to now make this a yearly event to improve the information available to the whole community."
