RESIDENTS in Roydon are desperately trying to track down the owner of a gang of peacocks, which they say are making their lives a misery.

People living in Roydon Village and Hamlet Hill say the rogue birds have been shattering their peaceful lives with squawks and wails, but no-one has been able to track down who they belong to or where they live.

Witnesses have reported seeing the birds repeatedly strut their stuff through the neighbourhood, but the group always vanishes before anything can be done about them.

Roydon Parish Council clerk Janet Ballard said: “A lot of people are upset by the noise they make.

“It is an issue of noise nuisance but it's very difficult to do anything about it until we find out who's they are.

“It's difficult to find out the ownership of something that is constantly moving about.”

In the meantime, residents are being encouraged to keep a log of all incidents so a record of their movements and noise can be made.
