DIFFERENCES in attitudes towards pets among Muslims, Christians and Jews will be discussed at a special meeting next week.

The subject will be discussed by members of the East London Three Faiths Forum at Woodford Liberal Synagogue on Thursday - with visitors invited to come along and join in the debate.

South Woodford rabbi, David Hulbert, said the event, which is part of the week-long Woodford Festival, will be one to remember.

He said: "It should be an interesting debate.

"There are significant differences in attitudes towards pets between the religions.

"Muslims for example do not allow pets in the home because they believe they are unclean, where as many Jews and Christian could not do without their cats and dogs.

"This will be a chance to find out the reasons for these differences and will be an interesting discussion."

The meeting, which begins at 8pm, will include talks by the synagogue's own rabbi Richard Jacobi, Rev Robert Hampson of Holy Trinity church in Hermon Hill and Muslim speaker, Khola Hasan.
