NATIONAL success was on the cards for one school pupil when she achieved first-place in a horse-riding competition.
Sophie Lingfield, 13, a student at Davenant Foundation School, in Chester Road, Loughton, took the top prize at the Riding For Disabled British Dressage Championships, in Hartpury, Gloucestershire.
Representing the Chigwell Riding Trust, Sophie, from Loughton, had to put in a great deal of preparation for the championship which involved a full weekend of competition.
Davenant director of specialism Jo Daniels said: “Sophie really enjoyed the experience and during competition even forgot about the crowds and just enjoyed putting her horse, Roger, through his paces.
“She was amazed when she checked the score board and saw she was first in the junior section making her the junior British champion for her ability. What a wonderful achievement and an amazing experience. “
