AN inquest to determine how a man died after being restrained by police has been delayed.
The inquest due to be held today at Walthamstow Coroner's Court into the death of Ricky Penfold has been delayed because a key witness is abroad.
No new date has yet been set for the inquest to be heard.
Mr Penfold, 45, of Woodford Green, was restrained by police on October 23 last year, in Hale End Road, Highams Park, after witnesses reported seeing him hitting cars.
After he ran off, officers restrained him then noticed he had stopped breathing and tried to resuscitate him before an ambulance arrived.
He died three days later at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Following an inquest, the findings from an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) will be released.
