SCHOOLCHILDREN from the Orchard Estate in Woodford Green showed adults just what they have to go through to get to school.
The youngsters joined with officers from Redbridge Council and Redbridge Homes for their morning walk to Ray Lodge Primary School in Snakes Lane East.
The event was organised by the charity Living Streets as part of its Fitter for Walking campaign, which aims to make Britain's streets safer for pedestrians, and the grown-ups saw for themselves the dangers presented by the busy Broadmead Road where residents have long complained about speeding traffic and a lack of suitable crossing points.
Tony Armstrong, chief executive of Living Streets, said: “It’s really important that there are safer crossings to school, not just at the entrance, but on routes that children take from their doorsteps.”
