REALITY TV star and Waltham Abbey resident Jade Goody has been posthumously honoured by a cancer charity for raising public awareness of cervical screening and being an "inspiration" to other sufferers of the disease.
Following her death in March at the age of 27, the NHS reported a sharp increase in the amount of women going for cervical tests.
In some areas of the country the numbers getting screened rose by as much as 50 per cent.
At an award ceremony last night organised by charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Goody was honoured with an "Inspirational Determination Award" for her very public battle with her illness.
Her publicist Max Clifford accepted the award on her behalf.
