A NEW councillor has been elected to represent Nazeing Parish Council's Nazeingbury ward.
Independent candidate and local businessman Mark Frydrych will now take up the post after winning yesterday's by-election.
Mr Frydrych got 347 votes, beating the other candidate Edgar Bruce Borton, who received 194 votes.
Three ballot papers were rejected by electoral officials.
The turnout was 22 per cent.
