RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on how to regenerate Leytonstone town centre.
Conservative councillors Edwin Northover and Matt Davis will be in the town centre tomorrow (Saturday) asking shoppers how best to revive the centre where many shops remain closed, including the former Woolworths.
Cllr Northover said: “Residents have raised the issue with me and I live in Leytonstone and think that when Stratford City opens, unless something drastic is done to relaunch Leytonstone, it will completely die.”
Cllr Northover said he would like to see the former Woolworths transformed into an indoor market for small businesses and would also like to see the centre returned to a two-way system, with part of Church Lane pedestrianised.
If you would like to join the debate, you can speak to the councillors tomorrow (Saturday) from 10.30am until 12noon in Leytonstone High Road, near the junction with Church Lane.
