HALF of all tower blocks in Waltham Forest have not been assessed for fire risk, according to reports.
The BBC says figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act also reveal the council does not record a fire risk rating for the borough’s blocks.
A total of ten of the 21 blocks in Waltham Forest do not reportedly have a valid fire risk assessment.
If verified, this means the authority has housed people in blocks where the extent of the fire risk is unknown.
The BBC is also reporting that all 14 tower blocks in neighbouring Redbridge are classified as high risk.
In July six people died in a fire at a block of flats in Southwark which had been given a medium risk rating.
