PATIENTS suffering from life threatening illnesses have produced art work which will be displayed at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

The hospital's complementary therapies team created the art work with the help of an artist and patients, who were asked to describe in writing what the imagery represents.

The art work is being designed as part of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and the theme of this year's event is discovering your voice.

Hospice and Palliative care improves the life for those suffering from illnesses like cancer and Aids by giving them symptom relief, emotional, spiritual and practical support.

The finished work will be on display in the Leytonstone hospital's Margaret Centre on Wednesday.

There will also be information on display from the Macmillan cancer team, occupational therapists, complementary therapists, the psychological support service, inpatient unit and chaplaincy department.

The event runs from 11am to 3pm.
