A TERRIFIED motorist cowered in her car as yobs pelted her with bricks and stones during an unprovoked attack.

The 41-year-old woman, who does not wish to be identified for fear of more violence, was driving to church through the Priory Court estate in Walthamstow, when a group of up to 15 teenagers blocked her route.

One of the youths then threw a brick through her windscreen, shattering it and covering her with glass.

The group continued to hurl bricks, stones and other objects at the car, before she managed to drive away.

The woman, who fortunately escaped serious injury, said: “I was in shock, it was completely unprovoked.

“I keep having flashbacks, but I am determined not to let them stop me from moving around.”

The driver said that, despite there being a number of onlookers, including passengers on a bus, the police have since told her the case is not a priority and will not be investigated further.

She said: “I have not had much help from the police, I think they are waiting for somebody to be killed or seriously injured before they do anything.

“They have been pushing the safer neighbourhood initiative, yet they, the people who are employed to provide safety in that area, don't seem to want to protect the public.”

The latest incident comes just days after young people called for an end to violence between gangs from Priory Court and the Beaumont Estate, in Leyton.

The attack happened at about 7pm last Sunday in Priory Court (October 4).
