IAIN Duncan Smith will be given a government position to address the country's social problems, should the Conservatives win the next election.
Tory leader David Cameron announced during his speech on the final day of the Tory conference in Manchester that he wants the Chingford MP to coordinate attempts to "mend our broken society".
Mr Cameron said: "In that fight, there's one person this party can rely on. He's the man who has dedicated himself to the cause of social justice and shown great courage in standing up for those least able to stand up for themselves. Iain Duncan Smith. And I am proud to announce today that if we win the election he will be responsible in government for bringing together all our work to help mend the broken society."
Mr Duncan Smith heads the think tank Centre for Social Justice, which has published proposals to tackle poverty.
