PENSIONERS in Waltham Forest are being urged to not be embarrassed about claiming benefits to which they are entitled.
According to Age Concern, many pensioners are failing to claim Pension Credit, despite an increase in the cost of living.
The charity estimates that those failing to claim are missing out on an average of £1,612.
Sheena Dunbar, director of Age Concern Waltham Forest, said: “Many older people are feeling increasingly anxious about paying their bills this winter and could be risking their health by not heating their home properly.
“Yet there are hundreds of older people in Waltham Forest missing out on money benefits or other support that could help to ease the financial strain this winter.”
Anybdoy needing advice about their entitlement can call Age Concern on 8558 5512.
