AN EXERCISE class with a difference is creating a stir in Ongar with its use of babies and buggies as keep-fit tools.
Mums and dads have been flocking to the sessions at the area's youth centre since the launch of the scheme last month, in which participants use their tots and their pushchairs for special stretches and walks to stay in shape.
Organised by the Little Stars Children's Centre, Ongar Leisure Centre and West Essex Primary Care Trust (PCT), the classes have proved a hit with parents, with class sizes almost doubling in the space of a week.
Ongar parent Martine Hopkins said she and her children loved the sessions.
She said: "It's hard to exercise when you have children as you've either got to put your child in a crèche which I'm reluctant to do, or exercise in the evening and by then you are often too tired.
"In a group like this you are more motivated - it's great for parents and the fresh air is good for the children."
Places are still available in the group, which group meets every Tuesday at 11.15am at Ongar Youth Centre at The Gables in Fyfield Road, Ongar. Call Marie Lewis on 01277 366495 to find out more.
