A GROUP of determined supermarket workers have gone that extra mile to raise funds for sick children by taking part in a sponsored run.
The three women, who all work at Waitrose in South Woodford, did their bit for Haven Haven House Children's Hospice by taking part in the five kilometre Adidas Women's Challenge in Hyde Park.
Lindsay Stoll, Carla Westburgh and Annette Taylor all successfully completed the race alongside more than 60 other women running to raise funds for the Woodford Green-based charity - which provides respite care for children with life-shortening illnesses and their families.
Ms Stoll, who also volunteers at the hospice one day a week, said: "It was a fantastic atmosphere.
"Preparing to set off for the challenge surrounded by a sea of thousands of people was a brilliant experience and the support from everyone en route was amazing.
"The weather couldn’t have been better and it was a great, unique opportunity for a day out with colleagues and friends.
"I was proud to be supporting Haven House and raising money for the wonderful work they do."
Jane Seward, of Haven House, said: "We hosted a special get together for some of the ladies who took part.
"They were able to tour the grounds and share their experience. Many have even recruited friends and family for the 2010 event."
