A FRIEND of injured foxes will be aiming to raise much needed funds at a special Cockney-themed evening this month.
Debbie Hayes, of Honey Croft in Loughton, runs Forest Fox Welfare, which rescues injured foxes from across south Essex and north-east London.
Cockney entertainer Gordon Bennett will be appearing at Loughton Cricket Club on October 30, where Debbie and her volunteers will aim to raise funds to build an intensive care unit for injured foxes.
At the moment, Debbie has few options of where to take the animals when they require urgent medical attention, and often has to travel as far afield as Northampton or Kent.
“There is such a need for this kind of service in this area. It's such a long way to go, especially with a sick fox,” she said.
