A CHARITY in honour of tragic motorcyclist Kenneth Ibrahim will be launched at a star-studded fund-raising night on Saturday.
Kenneth Ibrahim, known as Kenny, died in May following an accident in Phuket, where he was attending a Thai boxing camp.
Kenny, who lived in New Road, Chingford, with his parents Tina and Ken, was a keen sportsman, a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur FC and also enjoyed music.
For these reason's Kenny's family has decided to set up a charity, called KNI Foundation, to help get young people off the streets and into sports and performing arts programmes.
Kenny's brother Dean Ibrahim, is the managing director of the charity, which is being launched at the County Hotel, in Oak Hill, Woodford Green, on Saturday.
Mr Ibrahim, 25, said: “We are going to be running sports and performing arts projects and providing opportunities for those that otherwise could not afford to do it.”
Mr Ibrahim said encouraging young people to play sport or take up art was one of Kenny's passions.
He said: “The foundation will continue to fulfil his dreams and aspirations, allowing his name to live on through the charity, whilst positively affecting local communities.”
The charity is being launched just a couple of months after the Ibrahim family criticised the way the authorities handled Kenny's death, including a claim that Thai officials disfigured Kenny's skin using an embalming fluid illegal in the UK.
AXA Insurance has since apologised for bombarding the family with calls following the death, in May.
Mr Ibrahim said the KNI Foundation has already confirmed projects with young offenders teams and various schools.
Saturday's event will be attended by a host of celebrities including former Tottneham Hotspur players Micky Hazard, Mark Falco and John Pratt, former Eastenders actor James Alexandrou (who played Martin Fowler) and X Factor contestant Austin Drage.
The night, called One Love, will also feature a raffle, buffet, dance performances, live bands and singing.
The event runs from 7am to 1pm and tickets are £20, call 07825 718918 to book.
