A WRITER from Wanstead has revealed how his latest stage project has provided a refreshing change from working in the film world.
Eamonn McDonnell, of Wanstead Park Road, will see his play The Gift begin a month-long run at the Greenwich Playhouse this evening (October 13) and spoke glowingly about how positive the experience has been compared to writing for the screen.
After penning four scripts which were ultimately never made, the writer said he was relishing the opportunity to see this production through to the stage Eamonn said: “It's a very lyrical play. It's 80 minutes long and it's a very dark production, but it's not without its humour!
“It's about two men, two strangers, in Ireland who meet and think they have nothing in common. But as the play develops they realise they actually do.
“It's a very intense performance, which is why we haven't got an interval - it's very hard for the actors to keep that intensity going.
The play is the first from Celtic Kiss Productions, which Eamonn has founded to give talented actors of all ages the chance to hone their skills.
He said: “We've got some very talented actors working in the performance, and that's the thing about working with the company. We don't care if you're 17 or 77, as long as the performer is talented then they're welcome.”
The Gift runs until November 8. For more information call the box office on 020 8858 9256.
