THE DISRUPTION caused by the work to Gants Hill roundabout will be coming to an end as early as next summer, it has been announced.

Work to the area was due to run on until 2011 but TfL and Redbridge Council have announced it will be completed ahead of schedule as both the transport authority and the council will be able to complete their works at the same.

A TfL spokesman said: “Following the discovery of unidentified utilities services under the Gants Hill roundabout in September, Transport for London has revised the work plan for the Gants Hill improvement scheme in consultation with Redbridge Council.

“The revised plans mean that the utility companies can carry out their work alongside TfL’s. Because of this, the Gants Hill improvement scheme is now set to be completed by late summer 2010.”

Redbridge Council have welcomed the news that disruption will be kept to a minimum. A spokesman said: “The unforeseen problems were overcome thanks to strong partnership working between TfL, the Council and the utility companies involved.

“We are pleased that these hurdles have been cleared so that disruption to the public is minimised.”
