EAST End author Gilda O'Neill will be on hand to mark the 40th birthday of Wanstead Library on Friday.
Ms O'Neill - who has eleven novels to her name - will give a talk on East End life at the invitation only event, which begins at 7.30pm.
The writer - who is a major supporter of the library, in Spratt Hall Road - was brought up in east London and is most famous for her book, My East End: A History of Cockney London.
