TWO outstanding students met London Mayor Boris Johnson after being short-listed for a black achievers award.
The Leyton Sixth Form College students, principal Kevin Watson and seven teachers met the Mayor at the London Schools and the Black Child Achievement Awards 2009 at the Houses of Parliament.
Tommy Williams won the boys’ A Level achievement award, and Shade Ogunseye was a runner-up in the Girls’ section.
Tommy achieved five A grades at A Level and has won a place to study economics and management at Oxford. He was also selected for a four-week internship at Deutsche Bank in the Summer.
Shade gained four A grades at A Level and an A at A/S Level. She is studying an extended medicine course at the University of Bradford.
Guests at the event included, Mayor Boris Johnson, Iain Wright MP, Olympic gold medallist Christine Ohuruogu and actress Naomie Harris.
