TENS of thousands of Tamils were joined at a protest rally in central London yesterday (Sunday) by two of Redbridge's most senior politicians.

Council leader Keith Prince and Ilford North MP Lee Scott turned out alongside more than 30,000 people to demonstrate against the treatment of Tamil refugees by the Sri Lankan government.

Protesters are angry that hundreds of thousands of Tamils still remain in internment camps following the end of the island's long-running civil war.

Mr Scott called for every refugee to be allowed to return to their home in 'peace and dignity' during a speech at the meeting, in Hyde Park.
