TEMPORARY drop-off points for council-bound mail have been set up in case of a postal strike.
If a postal strike goes ahead, residents can drop off any urgent mail they have for the council on Thursday and Friday at any council building, borough library or Waltham Forest Direct shop.
The council’s couriers will collect the post daily and redistribute it to the relevant department.
Cllr Keith Rayner, Waltham Forest’s cabinet member for performance, risk and governance, said: “While a postal strike might just mean a couple of days delay for some of us, for older or vulnerable people the postal service can represent a vital link when it comes to dealing with day-to-day finances.
"Similarly, for people paying their business rates or waiting for cheques to clear, any potential hold-up can prove to be a real problem.
“If the strike occurs we have a set of measures in place to ensure things run as smoothly as possible and."
Payment to the council can be made at Waltham Forest Direct shops or cash office or by calling 8496 3000 or visiting www.walthamforest.gov.uk/online-payments
