MEDIUM Tony Stockwell is best known for his appearances on Living TV in programmes including Street Psychic and Psychic School.
But now the Walthamstow native plans to return to his roots in Waltham Forest with a special live show in Chingford. CLAIRE HACK finds out more.
Mr Stockwell, now 40, says he first tapped into his 'psychic potential' at the age of 16, but that he has been able to see and hear things others could not since he was a small child.
He also claims to have spoken with Rolling Stone Brian Jones, who was found dead in his swimming pool in 1969, about his friendship with John Lennon and to have contact with dead family members.
He said: “When I'm describing someone who's died, I often have to say, 'I'm sorry, this one's mine.' They come near me and help me when I'm working.”
Mr Stockwell first attended a spiritualist church with a group of friends as a teenager and believes in God but is not religious, he said.
He said: “I was 16 when I first went along to a meeting at a spiritualist church and watched a demonstration.
“I was always interested in the paranormal. I never worried there was something wrong though. It felt very natural.”
Describing his 'contact' with the dead, he added: “When I'm making a link, it feels very heady – like I'm not in the room. It's a sort of floaty feeling.
“I call it being 'in power'. Thoughts and feelings come into my mind and pictures as well.”
Mr Stockwell is now based in Wickford, Essex, and also runs a teaching studio to help people 'develop their psychic abilities'.
He said: “It's for anyone who feels they've got some kind of connection to the spirit world.”
And he added he has 'no time' for sceptics.
Mr Stockwell said: “I'm a very honest person. People might come questioning but we don't get that many sceptics.”
He added: “If anyone is really against it – save yourself the money and don't come. If people come with an open mind, I can help them.”
Tony Stockwell will be at the Chingford Assembly Hall from 7.30pm on November 16. Admission is £16. To buy tickets, call 0844 5611209
