THE glamour of the catwalk came to a shopping centre when the winners of a modeling competition were announced.
Thousands of people watched a fashion show on Saturday and Sunday at The Mall in Selbourne Walk, Walthamstow, featuring fourteen finalists in the shopping centre's Makeover Modelling Competition.
The models had been recruited through scouting days and castings at The Mall throughout September and October and had just three days of rehearsals to prepare for the shows.
The overall winner chosen by model agency Sandra Reynolds for a test shoot was 19- year-old student Dionne Reynolds of South Woodford.
Joint plus size winners were Lucinda Hammond, 17, from Chingford and Maggie Burt, 43, from Luton.
The 19 and over age group winning girl was Dionne Reynolds and the winning boy was Ramo Tiro, 22, a student from Bosnia.
In the 15 to18 age category, the winning girl was Walthamstow Academy Sixth Form student Zeena Marie, 16, from Walthamstow.
The winning boy was Wesley Mendes Da Silva from Brazil, a science student.
Janette Barrett, The Mall marketing manager, said: "The boys and girls really stepped up to the mark and gave a genuinely professional show.
"Over the two days, the six shows played to audiences of well over three thousand and our judges had a tough choice selecting the individual category winners."
