A WOMAN has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident.
Police said the 56-year-old local woman was crossing Epping New Road, in Buckhurst Hill, at 10pm last night, when she was struck by a vehicle at the junction with Fairland Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle, which was travelling from the London direction, failed to stop at the scene leaving the woman in the road with serious injuries. She was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, where she currently remains.
Police believe the vehicle involved will have damage to its windscreen and are appealing for anyone with information to come forwards.
Officers are also looking for a silver-coloured pick-up style vehicle which was seen in the area and which police wish to contact the driver of to eliminate them from their enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Nason at Chigwell Road Policing unit on 0300 333 4444.
