DISAPPOINTMENT has turned to joy for a gifted young singer after she landed a three-album record deal just weeks after crashing out in the semi finals of Britain's Got Talent.

Megan McKenna, 17, of Forest Approach, Woodford Green and her friend Demi Bennetts, 15, dazzled millions of television viewers on the top TV talent show as 'bubblegum' pop group Harmony.

The pair put on a stunning performance in the semi final of the contest when they burst out of a huge pink birthday cake and sang a quirky version of 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun.'

Despite the girls' popularity with the public - a video of their performance attracted more than one million hits on YouTube - they failed to reach the final.

But their hurt has been replaced by celebration after they were signed up on a long term contract by prestigious record label, Soundbites Media Production, with a debut single already planned for Christmas.

Megan said her life had been transformed by her appearance on the show, and that she cannot wait to get into the recording studio to start work.

She said: "It's been amazing since we were on the show.

"We get loads of messages on our Facebook site from fans, and I keep getting asked questions by girls who want to know what make-up and shampoo I wear and random things like that.

"It's been a bit weird to be honest.

"We're waiting for the lyric writers to finish their work and then we can get recording, which will be fantastic."

Proud mum, Tanya McKenna, said her daughter was even accosted by fans during a recent holiday.

She said: "Megan had a great time on Britain's Got Talent, but was obviously sad not to get to the final.

She said: "We were on holiday in Tenerife during the summer and Megan had little children coming up and asking for her autograph.

"So many of them were coming up to her that she went and got her CD and sang for them.

"They couldn't sign a contract with anyone for three months after Britain's Got Talent finished which was a bit frustrating, but they were thrilled when this offer came in.

"It's a really good deal."
