A CHINGFORD man, who beat, kicked and strangled his dog, has been banned from keeping the animals for three years.
Trevor Walker, 39, of Lime Grove, was handed the ban by Waltham Forest magistrates but denied the charge.
He was found guilty of attacking his dog, Rosie, a white Staffordshire bull terrier at an address in Hatch Lane.
The incident happened in May this year and was witnessed by several people, who were so shocked that they rang police to report Walker's actions.
The dog was beaten and kicked and finally hung up by her choke chain.
RSPCA inspector Dawn Avery, who works in Waltham Forest and the surrounding area, investigated the case.
She said: “Poor Rosie was absolutely terrified by the attack, which was inflicted upon her by the person she trusted most.
“She was left in discomfort by the beating and she was hung up by her choke chain.”
Magistrates also imposed curfew on Walker for the next six weeks between the hours of 8pm and 8am.
He was also ordered to pay £750 costs.
Rosie was confiscated from her owner and is now being cared for at the RSPCA’s Southridge Animal Centre and workers are trying to find her a new home.
Anyone interested in offering a home to Rosie, or in adopting any of the other dogs at the centre, can see them at RSPCA Southridge, Packhorse Lane, Potters Bar.
