A LEYTONSTONE couple have admitted causing unnecessary suffering to their pet snake.
The royal python was found dead in a tank at the home of Abid and Saeeda Hussain in Webster Road after police were called.
It had been suffering from a chronic skin condition and had been left without any veterinary attention, Waltham Forest magistrates' court heard.
The court handed the couple a 10-year ban on keeping reptiles and also ordered them to pay a total of £317 in costs between them.
RSPCA Inspector Dawn Avery said: “Every animal is the responsibility of its owner.
“This snake should have been given proper veterinary treatment for the skin condition and not just neglected until it died.”
