A SPECIAL fundraising event to support Sickle Cell Awareness is to be held at a Leytonstone restaurant.
The Star of India, in High Road, will host the event on October 28, which also be attended by Waltham Forest mayor Cllr Anna Mbachu and art historian Peter Ashan.
Part of Black History Month, it will raise funds for research into sickle cell disease, a congenital blood disorder which mainly affects black people.
The event will feature singer Deloris Francis alongside Ian Greer, performing ‘A Different Shade of Elvis’.
The event starts at 7pm and includes a three-course meal as well as performances from Lady Rajan and MC and DJ Norman C.
Tickets are £20 and must be booked in advance by calling 8989 4028 or 8556 8909 or by visiting the Star of India.
