THE family of a man who died in a motorcycle accident in Thailand has thanked the public for its “overwhelming” support for their new children's charity.

Keen sportsman, Spurs fan and music lover Kenneth Ibrahim, known as Kenny, died in May following an accident in Phuket, where he was attending a summer-long Thai boxing camp.

Kenny's grieving family have now launched a charity called the KNI Foundation, to help get young people off the street and into sports and performing arts programmes.

A total of 450 people attended an event to launch the foundation and more than £12,000 has already been raised.

Dean Ibrahim, Kenny's brother, said: “We would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting us, we have been overwhelmed.

“This means we can do what we want to do and make sure Kenny's name lives on.”

The launch event called One Love was held at the County Hotel, in Oak Hill, Woodford Green and featured live music, dancing, singing, fire-eaters, a buffet and celebrity appearances from former Tottenham Hotspur players Micky Hazard and Mark Falco.

Mr Ibrahim said the foundation will now seek to set up sports and performing arts projects and it has already confirmed projects with young offenders' teams and schools.

He also said the foundation is looking to organise a charity run in January, the route of which would hopefully go past famous landmarks in Waltham Forest.
