A TEENAGE moped rider is in hospital following a crash in Leytonstone last night.
The crash happened at about 11.15pm when the boy's moped collided with a Mercedes 320, near the traffic lights at the junction of Leytonstone High Road and Gainsborough Road.
Both the roads, as well as Church Road, were closed following the accident and traffic was diverted via Lemna Road.
Roads were not reopened until about 3.20am.
The boy, believed to be 16, was treated by the ambulance service at the scene and was taken to Whipps Cross University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
He is due to undergo surgery today (Friday) for a broken leg.
No information has yet been released about the driver of the Mercedes.
