HEALTH psychologist Professor Patrick McGhee has been appointed vice chancellor of the University of East London (UEL).
Prof McGhee, currently deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Central London, has been the dean of various psychology departments at universities across the country.
A graduate of Glasgow and Oxford, Prof McGhee this year won a National Teaching Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy.
Prof McGhee said: “UEL’s distinctive strengths in its location, diversity, distance learning and Olympic and Paralympic engagement give it a unique role in the regeneration of the area.”
Prof McGhee will take up his post in February.
