TRIBUTES will be paid to the war dead from across the district at a series of remembrance events this weekend.

On Friday November 6, there will be a Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance at the War Memorial conducted by the Rev Geoffrey Connor at 10:45am.

At 11.30am, the War Graves in Epping Cemetery on Bury Lane will host an act of remembrance to uphold the memories of the Allied soldiers, sailors and airmen who are buried in the cemetery. Wreaths will be laid by the chairman of Epping Forest District Council, the Epping Town Mayor and the Royal British Legion.

On Remembrance Sunday, November 8, there will be a parade to the war memorial from the civic offices on Epping High Street lead by the Epping Forest Pipe Band at 2.10pm.

This will be followed at 2.20pm by the traditional laying of wreaths at the war memorial itself, following by a parade along the High Street to St John's Church at 2.40pm.

The Royal British Legion will be joined by the Army Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps, Essex Police, Essex Fire and Rescue and local Scouts and Guides. The day will conclude with a Service of Remembrance at St John's at 3.00pm.
