TRIBUTES will be paid to the war dead from across the district at a series of remembrance events this weekend.
On Friday November 6, there will be a Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Epping conducted by the Rev Geoffrey Connor at 10:45am.
At 11.30am, the War Graves in Epping Cemetery on Bury Lane will host an act of remembrance for the Allied servicemen and women buried in the cemetery.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 8, council chair Penny Smith will attend a parade to the war memorial from the civic offices on Epping High Street lead by the Epping Forest Pipe Band at 2.10pm.
This will be followed at 2.20pm by the traditional laying of wreaths at the war memorial, before a parade along the High Street to St John's Church at 2.40pm.
St Mary's Church in Ongar will see a special service attended by council chair Councillor Penny Smith 10am, followed by wreath laying at 11.15am.
Councillor Smith will then lead a wreath laying ceremony at Kings Green in Loughton, at 12.15pm, followed by a formal salute on Brooklyn Parade.
In Chigwell, Councillor Knapman will attend a service of remembrance and wreath laying at St Mary's Church at 10:40am.
Vice-chair Councillor Anne Grigg will be at St Andrew's in North Weald for a service at 10:55am, followed by a special memorial at North Weald Airfield at 12:15.
Elsewhere in the district, St Mary's Church in Theydon Bois will hold a service to be attended by Councillor Philip at 10:30.
In Buckhurst Hill, Councillor Haigh will attend St John's Church for a service and wreath laying at 9.30am.
In Nazeing, Councillor Bassett will attend All Saints Church at 10.00am, while in Roydon Councillor Morgan will be at St Peter's at 10.30am.
In Waltham Abbey, councillor Webster will be at Upshire Church at 9.00am, followed by a service at the war memorial at 10.00am, and finally a service at Waltham Abbey Church at 10.45am.
