Wadham 2
Buckhurst Hill A 0
U9s Echo League Kent Division
PLAYERS, parents and the referee should all take credit from their roles in this game played in torrential rain.
It was a very competitive game with both sides looking for their first League win of the season and both going close in a goaless first half.
James C came close on three occasions for Wadham with Hill hitting the bar and post at the other end.
The second half continued in the same vein but it was Wadham who got the break through as a loose ball found William H. His inch-perfect pass found James C, who found Kristian T on the edge of the box and he kept his shot low which fizzed into the corner.
At the other end keeper Matthew M was in outstanding form, stopping everything that Hill threw at him with a little help from the woodwork.
The second came in similar fashion as Kristian found himself wide on the right and his cross-shot was missed by everyone for his second of the game.
Soon after Wadham nearly finished the game off when another through ball from William set James away, who shot at the advancing keeper. The ball rebounded into the path of Toby M who hit the post.
This was a hard-working performance from all the boys but special mention to keeper Matthew M who was quite outstanding,. Daniel P in defence and Conor M and James C were all excellent but Man of the Match went to Kristian T for his two goals and all round performance.
Team: Matthew M, Thomas H, Conor M, Kristian T, Ross W, Brandon Z, James C, Daniel P, William H, Toby M.
Elsewhere, Wadham U15s smashed Mark Hall Youth 12-2 with a double hat-trick from Bartam, and a hat-trick a piece from Jago and Morris.
In the Mersey Division of the U10s League Wadham B managed a credible 3-3 draw against Upminister Park Rovers E with goals from Taye E, Tiago M, Ben L.
