A SAFETY campaign is to be launched in Waltham Forest to keep people from suffering toy-related injuries.
More than 40,000 people a year need hospital treatment after hurting themselves with toys and the council is to run an operation to try to drive down the number in Waltham Forest.
The Trading Standards team will launch the operation on November 9 and will be purchasing toys and then sending them back for testing.
They will also be offering advice to parents in order to keep accidents from happening.
Traders selling toys that do not meet safety standards can be prosecuted if they are caught.
