YOUTH workers and mentors are urgently needed to help young offenders from Redbridge rebuild their lives after being released from prison.
The council has called for people with experience of working with young ex-offenders to join its Youth Offending Team, which is short of staff.
A spokeswoman said the service, which caters for youngsters aged 10 to 17, plays an important role in helping children settle back in to life when they are released from jail.
She said: "The team urgently need paid staff to work on the new resettlement project which is offered to all young people aged between 10 and 17 years who have received a custodial sentence.
"The project addresses needs such as accommodation, education, training and employment and also offers support for families.
"Those coming out of prison can often find it difficult to adjust to life back in the community and evidence shows they require help with this transition.
"We are looking for anyone who has experience in youth work and mentoring and coaching young people.
